Reviewer standard and custody boundary

Two rule sets hold this estate together: the standard a challenge must meet to be admitted, and the boundary around material that is never published at all. Both are published because a rule nobody can read is not a rule.

Reviewer challenge standard

01

A challenge must be falsifiable

Every challenge names the observation that would defeat its claim. A challenge that cannot fail is a slogan and is not admitted to the register.

02

The carrier is named, or the claim is missing

A claim without a carrier is published as missing. It is never softened into a qualification that reads like support.

03

Class is earned, never assigned

DECLARED, OBSERVED and INDEPENDENTLY REPRODUCED are three different things, and a claim moves between them only when a new carrier appears.

04

Negative controls are mandatory

An examination that cannot distinguish success from a broken harness proves nothing. Every witness case carries a control that must fail in the expected way.

05

Independence means a different party

A reviewer who took part in producing the object is not an independent reviewer, whatever the record calls them.

06

Corrections append, they do not overwrite

A correction names the record it supersedes. The superseded record stays readable, so the history of the claim survives the correction.

Custody boundary

Private source material stays private

Private source files, unreleased drafts and protected construction detail are not published, and neither are their hashes. A hash of unpublished material is a fingerprint of something the reader cannot obtain.

No customer or personal data

Nothing on this estate carries a third party record. Illustration uses method-level examples only.

No invented results

Where a value, measurement, date or identity is not held, the estate says so. It does not publish a plausible figure in the shape of a real one.

Published is permanent

A published claim is withdrawn by supersession with a stated reason, never by deletion. Withdrawal is a fact about the estate and is recorded as one.

Custody stays with the holder

Publishing a claim transfers no custody of the artefact behind it. Holding the carrier is what makes a claim checkable, and the holder remains the holder.

What a review may conclude

Supports

The named observation was reproduced from the packet, by a distinct examiner, with the control behaving as expected.

Undetermined

The packet could not be run, or the carrier needed for the check was not supplied. This is the default for any unexamined claim.

Defeated

The falsifier was observed. The claim is withdrawn by supersession, and the superseded entry stays readable.

BW Proof is an evidence estate, not a live BW runtime, not a certification, and not an independent audit. Nothing here substitutes for an examiner inspecting real artefacts.
